Those three words are said too much; They're not enough.

I Kissed…

An interesting debate has been ongoing since the conception of “I Kissed a Girl” by Katy Perry. Although I’ve personally enjoyed the song way more than I probably should have, it’s undoubtably going to be one of, if not the top hit in 2008. Topping Billboard’s Hot 100 for seven weeks, the former wannabe Christian pop star got her first break on The Watching Over You Tour with then-newsboy-gone-solo Phil Joel and Earthsuit (to be known later as Mute Math). There’s plenty of info on sites all over the net but that’s not really my reasoning for bringing up the topic.

Recently, Fall Out Boy and their label announced a new music sampler including demos of new music. One of the tracks is called “I Kissed a Boy” by Cobra Starship. It’s just interesting to me how we as a culture and generation interpret and percieve things. “I Kissed a Girl” is a media-driven concept of forbidden sexual intensity (but maintaining a certain level of innocence) while “I Kissed a Boy” is broadly viewed as… simply unknown and disgusting.

Personal opinion doesn’t come into play here really, I was more interested in the take of it as a culture, generation, and/or even perhaps a geographical demographic. Since the original Katy Perry version is all over, I won’t provide it here… but here’s “I Kissed a Boy” (content edited by me). Perhaps this was ironic timing to release my new audio teaser.
